How to play Roulette:

Decided to have a game of Roulette but don't know the rules? games:player has prepared an easy to follow step by step guide to help you become an expert player. After practicing and developing your skills using the free roulette games on this site you'll be more than ready to play for real!

Objective:
Roulette is played with a 'wheel' consisting of 38 (37 if European table as 0 is included) numbers in alternate black and red colours. The idea is to try and guess through a variety of options which space the ball will land in when the wheel stops spinning.

How to play:
The simple rules and options for Roulette have been listed below and provide a comprehensive overview of all of the options whether practising or playing for real.
The first thing that you need to do is to decide on the value of your stake. Once this has been played you need to choose your betting options from the Outside and Inside bets listed below.

Outside bets
The outside bets in roulette are the bets that reside 'outside' of the main playing area of 38 numbers. There are no winning outside bets for 0 or 00 results. Different bet types include:

Red or Black
Bet on the outcome either being a red number, or a black number. Place this bet in the area with the words 'red' or 'black' in them. Your odds will be 50/50 and the bet is paid even money, meaning if you bet £10, you win £10.

Odd or Even
Bet on the outcome either being an odd or even number. Place your bet by putting your chips in the middle of the section marked 'even' or 'odd'.

Low or High
This bet is where you predict whether the next number to come up will be between 1 to 18, or between 19 to 38. Your odds will be 50/50 and the bet is paid even money.

Columns
At one end of the set of 38/37 numbers are boxes with '2 to 1' written in them. If a number from within the column you are betting on comes up you win, and are paid 2 to 1.

Dozens
This is where you place a bet on dozens, either the first dozen (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36). These options will be highlighted with the words 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12. The bet pays 2 to 1.

Inside Bets
Inside bets are made up of specific numbers or combinations of numbers within the number layout, or along the border of it.

Straight-up Bet
This is the simplest roulette bet. You choose one of the 38/37 numbers and place your chips on that number. This gives return of 35 to 1.

Split Bet
This option allows you to place a single bet on two different numbers as long as they are beside each other on the table layout. Simply place your chips on the line between the two numbers. If either of the numbers comes up then your receive pay back of 17 to 1.

Street Bet
This option allows you to bet on three different numbers with the same bet. This is done by placing your chips on the outside of the row of numbers you want to bet on. Example, if you choose to bet on the numbers 1, 2, and 3 all at once, put your chips down on the line that is the outside edge of the 3. This bet pays 11 to 1.

Corner Bet
The corner bet allows you to place a bet on four adjoining numbers. Simply place your chips at the point where the four numbers meet which indicates you want a corner bet. This bet pays 8 to 1.

Five Number Bet
This is the worst type of bet to choose when playing roulette. The only way you can place a five number bet is by placing your chips at the intersection of 0 and 1 on the corner (not the corner that joins with two, but the other one). You can win if any of 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3 are hit. This bet pays 6 to 1.

Guidelines and Tips:
Now that you are ready to play for real here are some tips to increase your odds and chance of winning.
• Never follow anybody's system.
• Look for a single zero roulette wheel. This cuts the house advantage more than any other options.
• Never use the five number bet, this offers you the worst odds available.
• Search for casinos that offer the surrender rule. This is the next favourable option to you as it reduces the house advantage and gives you better options on even-money outside bets.
• Play roulette on European sites if possible, these provide lower house odds which give you much better chances of winning!
